New Webinar:
What To Do If Your Award Is Terminated

Unfortunately, award terminations are no longer rare. And they're not always communicated clearly.

Learn how to protect your organization legally and financially if your grant is terminated early.

📅 May 22, 2025 | 1 PM ET

In this live compliance webinar, we’ll walk through:

  • Common reasons federal grants are terminated
  • Your rights and responsibilities under 2 CFR 200.340
  • How to issue stop work orders and protect reimbursement rights
  • Best practices for documentation and audit readiness

FAQ of the Week

Q: What’s the most common compliance mistake that leads to findings?

A:
Incomplete documentation. Whether it’s missing procurement files, time and effort certifications, or subrecipient risk assessments, incomplete records are a top audit trigger. Regular file reviews and checklists can help you stay on track. Check out our Grant Compliance Checklist to spot risks early

Don't wait for an audit to review your grants. Build mini-reviews into your calendar every few months — checking procurement, subawards, and financial reports for missing documentation before they become audit risks.

Grant News Highlights

Recent events are reshaping the federal funding landscape for grant recipients:

  • Affordable Housing Grants Halted: In late March, the administration paused approximately $60 million in affordable housing funds nationwide, citing non-compliance with executive orders targeting DEI initiatives. Hundreds of housing projects and nonprofits have been left scrambling as a result.
  • Court Blocks DEI Funding Cuts in Public Schools: In April, a federal judge blocked efforts to cut federal funds for K–12 schools maintaining DEI programs. This ruling shows that while political shifts are driving funding threats, the legal landscape remains contested and unpredictable.
  • Federal Procurement Executive Order Issued: A new executive order directs agencies to streamline procurement processes, pare down the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), and push for more commercial cost-effective solutions. Contractors and grantees may soon face tighter ROI justifications and fewer funding pathways for non-commercial services.

The takeaway: Federal grant standards can change mid-award. Staying informed, maintaining strong documentation, and preparing for unexpected disruptions is more important than ever.
